BRIDGERTON SEASON 2
​KINGS COURT INFORMATION

​The Indianapolis Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., seeks to recognize phenomenal male leaders within our community whose work improves people’s lives, creates opportunity and contributes to a better Indianapolis. The inclusion of the Kings Court is an integral part of the Bridgerton Season 2 fundraising strategy.

To help ensure Kings Court candidate qualifications align with the sorority’s mission, the Kings’ criteria is primarily based on our Five-Point Programmatic Thrusts. Nominee qualifications should directly align or closely intersect in multiple ways with organizational Programmatic Thrusts.
  1. Purveyor of Prosperity = Economic Development:  Promotes economic well-being and quality of life for their communities by creating, retaining, and expanding jobs that facilitate growth and or enhance wealth.
  2. Royal Educator = Educational Development:  Exhibits and/or promotes excellence in teaching, research, and/or program development.
  3. Keeper of Care = Physical and Mental Health:  Promotes and/or has gone above and beyond to raise awareness of the importance of physical and mental health issues within our community, in particular underserved communities.
  4. Legends of the Consciousness = Embodies the characteristics of International Awareness & Involvement:  Delta Sigma Theta
    Sorority, Inc., has major international projects in South Africa, Kenya and Haiti whose focus is on the education and the care of children, born and unborn. One common theme of all Delta Sigma Theta international projects is care together with necessary actions in order to provide solutions for critical needs. Has the nominee taken significant action steps in providing solutions for critical needs for the care and/or education of our community's children?
  5. Defender of Social Justice = Political Awareness & Involvement:  Promotes and/or is actively involved in enacting laws and policies to sustain and expand the rights and privileges of citizenship to all people and to protect the most vulnerable amongst us, including: Active engagement in the legislative, executive, judicial and/or regulatory affairs of Indianapolis (or Indiana); promoting enlightened citizenship by providing fact-based information to elected officials and voters; research and advocacy of critical issues; monitoring legislation at national, state, and local levels; voter registration, education, and mobilization; educating the public on public policy issues and encouraging Deltas to run for elected office.

KINGS COURT OUTCOME GOALS:
  1. Two (2) nominees per category
  2. No more than 10 King candidates
  3. Only financial Sorors are able to nominate King candidates within the timeframe outlined; one nomination submission per Soror
  4. Immediate past Queens, Bridgerton Ball Co-chairs and Kings Court Co-chairs will vote on nominees to determine the 10 members of the Kings Court
  5. King nominees must meet all 10 criteria

KINGS COURT CRITERIA:
  1. Nominee has a history of exceptional leadership that has facilitated, encouraged, or motivated others to deliver expanded benefits to Indianapolis residents
  2. Nominees work addresses an issue or issues that are critical to Indianapolis residents and the issue is anticipated to affect the quality of life of said residents
  3. Nominee has been highly effective in achieving positive change and their work has a measured record of accomplishment
  4. Nominee helps build bridges among people with differing viewpoints or different backgrounds and brings
    experiences to their work and creates opportunity for underserved Indianapolis communities
  5. Nominee has documented and/or proven success in profession, area of expertise or community leadership
  6. Nominee has verifiable professional credentials
  7. Nominee must be a resident in one of our chapter service areas (Indianapolis, Kokomo, Zionsville, Avon,
    Brownsburg, Carmel, Greenwood, fishers, Plainfield, Lafayette, and West Lafayette)
  8. Nominee may work in any field (such as education, health, law, public safety, economic development, business,
    corporate, environment)
  9. Nominee agrees and has the ability to raise funds for the event, e.g., purchase table(s), sponsorship, DREF,
    individual promotion of ticket/table sales or any combination thereof
  10. Nominees must be recommended by a financial member of the Indianapolis Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc.
