WELCOME TO THE ONLINE HOME OF THE
ICONIC INDIANAPOLIS ALUMNAE CHAPTER The Indianapolis Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a private/non-profit organization, based on Christian principles, whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities and throughout the world. The major programs of the sorority are based upon the organization’s Five Point Programmatic Thrust.
Internationally and locally, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., is working to address violence against women and encouraging all members to break the culture of silence surrounding this issue. To support the organization’s tireless work to end domestic violence and increase awareness amongst minorities, the Indianapolis Alumnae Chapter (IAC) has developed a Domestic and Sexual Violence Initiative called H.E.L.P. – Having Essential Links for your Protection. Additionally, our web site includes other information about our sorority history, chapter history, service projects and other initiatives. Thank you for visiting our web site and we hope you enjoy your time here with us! |

Oh, Give Thanks
Psalm 136: 1-3 One of my favorite songs to sing/minister contains the following verses: Oh, give thanks Unto the Lord For He is good (Yes He is good) Oh, give thanks Unto the Lord For He is good Soror Keisha Nickolson, IAC Chaplains Council Join the Chaplain's Council for a short devotional and prayer on Jan 2, 9, & 16 at 8PM. I do believe that songwriter/psalmist Judith McAllister was onto something GREAT when she sang this song! When I think about the goodness of Jesus and ALL that He has done for you (and for me!) it reminds me that if I just give him THANKS, He will release blessings from heaven reserved in my name.
Worship God for his goodness. Worship God for his grace. Worship God for his mercy. Worship God for saving you from the snares of the enemy that was surely reserved to take you clean out and mess up even your reputation. Worship God for believing in you even when you did not believe in yourself. Worship God for all the times you did not worship God when you should have. Worship God because He is just that good. The Bible says in Psalm 136:1, a simple command and that is to “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever.” At the end of the day, Sorors, God just wants us to give Him thanks. Not only for what he has done, but more importantly, just for who He is to us.
What does giving thanks look like? To each one of us it could mean something different. You are thankful because you have a job that covers your means and are passionate about going to it every day. You are thankful for having a family that is healthy, alive, and in unity. You are thankful because you are a cancer survivor. You are thankful because you have joy, unspeakable joy, that this world did not give you. You are thankful because you have beat some insurmountable odds stacked against you (e.g. job loss, divorce, illness/surgery, depression/anxiety, an unexpected transition in life that put you at a place of confusion or despair, backstabbing behavior from people you trusted, overwhelming fear that you cannot do what is that you are called to do by God, trust issues, abuse/neglect, not taking care of yourself because you are too busy taking care of others, church hurt, or simply not believing that you are enough) and have lived to tell about it. You are thankful that you have found a church home where you can praise, worship and serve God. You are thankful that when you or your family member went into surgery, all was well. You are thankful that the Lord heard your "last" prayer and answered it in due time. You are thankful that you have an identity that abides in our Holy Savior.
Whatever you, personally, need to remember so that you can thank our Heavenly Father, remember it. Because I believe, it is in those times when we remember to be thankful, that we get and receive our greatest rewards. Give thanks unto the Lord, for He is just that good!
